Chewable Antacids Recalled

L. Perrigo Company  is recalling more than 70,000 bottles of 750-mg calcium carbonate chewable antacid tablets because they contain metal particles, according to the November 28, 2018, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.

The 60-count bottles are marketed under the brands Healthy Accents (NDC 55316-014-72), distributed by DZA Brands, LLC; Health Mart Pharmacy (NDC 62011-0295-1), distributed by McKesson Corporation; and DG Health (NDC 55910-717-72), distributed by Dolgencorp. The recalled tablets are from lots PA17-412, PA17-077, PA17-196, PA17-127, and PA17-150 (Exp. 11/18) and were distributed throughout the United States.

L. Perrigo Company issued the voluntary recall November 6, 2018. The FDA designated it Class II on November 20, 2018. The classification communicates use of the product could cause temporary or medically reversible harm, or a remote possibility of serious harm.

Calcium carbonate tablets are available over the counter to treat symptoms of indigestion and heartburn.
