Analgesic Solution Recalled

Sterility concerns have prompted Avella of Deer Valley Inc. to recall 20 syringes containing fentanyl (10 mcg/mL) in NS 1 mL, according to the November 7, 2018, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.

Affected are 3-mL syringes from lot 8/8/18 0200 15-21070S (Exp. 11/6/18). The syringes were distributed throughout the United States.

Avella of Deer Valley Inc. voluntarily initiated the recall October 19, 2018. On November 1, 2018, the FDA designated the recall Class II, signaling use of the recalled syringes could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. A remote possibility of serious harm also exists.

Fentanyl is a prescription pain medication.
